Translation and publishing workflows

Automated workflows that translate articles between newspapers or prepare articles for publication, with drafts and verification before anything goes live.

Last updated 14 October 2026

Our publishing workflows let a newspaper publish more without manual copying. They run on our automation platform and talk to the newspaper’s site through the editorial API, so every article is set up exactly as an editor would set it up.

Translation between newspapers

A workflow follows a source newspaper and publishes its articles, translated, on a sister newspaper in another language. Today it translates articles from an English-language newspaper into Finnish.

For each new article the workflow:

  1. checks that it has not already been published on the target site;
  2. translates the headline, text, standfirst and tags;
  3. maps section, topics, front-page placement and genre to the target site’s own structure;
  4. credits the right writer from the register, or creates a guest writer, and keeps the original source and link;
  5. copies the featured image and checks it;
  6. creates the article as a draft, reads it back and publishes only when everything is in place.

If something is missing, such as a translation, an unknown genre or a failed image, the article stays a draft with a note for an editor.

Prepared articles for publication

Another workflow selects material, writes and proofreads articles for a regional newspaper, and prepares headlines, standfirst, sections, tags, images and SEO texts. It also adds a reader poll to the article. Here too, each article is created as a draft, verified field by field, and published only when the check passes. Articles that fail proofreading wait in the queue instead of being published.

Quality and control

  • Draft first, always. Nothing is published without being read back and checked.
  • Same rules as the newsroom. Writers, genres, primary topics and placement follow the platform’s register and settings.
  • Visible and reversible. Every article is an ordinary WordPress article that editors can change or unpublish.

Getting started

Each workflow is set up for the newspapers involved: language pair, sections, writers, tone and publication rules. Contact us to discuss a workflow for your newsroom.
