Translate / Migrate

Translate / Migrate 1.0.1 supports planned translation and migration work. Treat both as editorial projects with a defined scope, review process and rollback plan.

Translation needs an editor

Translation can preserve information across languages, but it must also preserve meaning, attribution, tone and local context. Assign a reviewer who understands both the source and target audience. Check headlines, quotations, place names, dates, links, image captions and any legal or public-service wording.

Migrate in batches

Inventory the content first: articles, media, taxonomy, redirects and any special templates. Test a representative batch in the agreed environment, then verify page presentation, discoverability and links before moving a larger set. Keep a record of what has been moved and what remains.

Communicate changes

Tell the newsroom when a migration changes normal publishing behaviour. Protect live work during the move and schedule high-risk changes outside critical editorial windows where possible.
