Use fixed commercial surfaces and sponsored formats without weakening editorial clarity.

Aeon News is designed with revenue surfaces as part of the newspaper structure. A supported ad manager handles campaign rules, while the theme provides predictable positions on the front page, in sidebars and through the article flow.
Fixed surfaces
An installation may use areas above and below the header, in front-page columns, before article content, after defined content points, in sidebars, below the article and above comments. Main-feed areas can also appear after selected article positions.
Document intended format, maximum dimensions and campaign type for each surface. A stable grid gives sales teams clear products and reduces disruption to reading.
Rotation and conditions
A supported manager can rotate advertisers, weight campaigns and limit repeat impressions. Test these rules with continuous reading so subsequent articles can expose different campaigns without unnecessary repetition.
Native and sponsored content
Sponsored activates a distinct article treatment. Labelling and visual separation must be immediately clear on both front page and article. Dedicated sponsored positions can provide lasting exposure, while external ads may be suppressed within paid partner content.
Article topics can gather a partner series in one archive. Always record sender, campaign period and internal owner in the newsroom’s campaign plan.
Publishing control
- Use legally and editorially appropriate Sponsored or Advertising labels.
- Separate typography and background without harming readability.
- Do not imitate a newsroom byline deceptively.
- Test mobile, dark mode and key breakpoints.
- Keep agreements, rights and end dates in the internal campaign record.
