Radio Summary

A daily spoken news briefing generated from the newspaper's own articles.

Last updated 14 October 2026

Radio Summary turns the newspaper’s own reporting into a short spoken briefing, for example a morning summary of the most important news, ready to publish as a podcast.

How it works

  1. The service reads the day’s articles from the site, together with its News Cycle to get the order of events right.
  2. It selects the most important stories and writes a script made for listening, not reading.
  3. The script is checked by a separate quality step for facts, names and tone.
  4. A synthetic voice reads it, with pronunciation rules for names and places, and music and sound design are added.
  5. The result is an audio file, and a draft episode can be uploaded to the podcast host.

Each run also saves the selection, the script and the cost, so an editor can see why a story was included.

Status

A pilot with a Swedish morning summary and an English morning briefing. Episodes are reviewed by an editor; automatic publishing is not switched on. Contact us if you are interested in a briefing for your newspaper.
