Aeon News is a WordPress-based publishing platform developed for more than ten years around daily digital newspapers. It combines a familiar editor with the hierarchy, metadata, revenue structure and reader logic required by a serious newsroom.

A daily edition has layers

A reader should be able to see what matters first, then move naturally through sections and related coverage. Treat the front page as the entry point to that experience. A story can be important because it is urgent, useful, local, explanatory or simply the best next read; placement should communicate that judgement.

The operating loop

The daily loop is straightforward: commission and draft stories, edit and verify them, publish with complete metadata and media, then make a deliberate placement decision. Keep configuration separate from daily work

Site structure, templates and connected services should be changed through an agreed maintenance process. Editors can then work quickly in the stable publishing environment instead of treating every shift as a configuration exercise.
