Introduction
Aeon News documentation
Operational guidance for the Aeon News WordPress publishing platform, reader app and editorial tools.
Last updated 27 August 2026
Aeon News is a WordPress-based platform for daily newspapers and editorial teams. It combines the publishing workflows a newsroom already recognises with tools for front-page judgement, reader presentation, distribution and engagement.
Use these guides in order
Start with Getting started when a site is being prepared or a new editor joins. The Platform guides then explain how to run a daily edition: create and review stories, assign a place in the hierarchy, package media and manage distribution surfaces.
The App and Reels sections cover products that extend a published story beyond the web edition. Add-ons document optional newsroom tools. Integrations and Troubleshooting are practical references for planned changes and common checks.
Find a guide by task
Publishing an article: start with the article editor, then use headlines and summaries, image workflow and news dimensioning.
Organising the publication: see categories and sections, topics and tags and search and archives.
Profiles or opinion: use authors and columnists and debate, letters and opinion formats.
Running the front page: continue to front-page hierarchy, continuous reading, Popular Posts and advertising/native.
Audience features: see comments and audience dialogue, polls, quizzes and Video Slider.
About screenshots
The documentation uses authentic Aeon News Demo views. Stories and adverts are fictional, while structure, typography and feature placement come from the platform. Backend captures must always use a neutral installation and be cleared of usernames, email addresses, keys, internal URLs and customer-specific material.
Editorial ownership stays human
Aeon News helps an editorial team make publishing repeatable; it does not decide what deserves publication. Keep clear ownership for commissioning, fact checking, legal review, corrections and final publication. Use roles, checklists and a short handover at shift changes so the front page remains intentional.
This documentation describes editor-facing behaviour. Exact configuration varies by agreement, installed modules and the newsroom’s WordPress setup, so labels may differ slightly.
