Proofreading

Add a consistent review pass with Proofreading 1.0.47 while keeping editors accountable.

Last updated 27 August 2026

Proofreading 1.0.47 supports a repeatable editorial review. It can help surface issues, but the responsible editor remains accountable for accuracy, tone, legal review and the final published wording.

Use it at the right point

Run proofreading after a draft has a stable headline, body and links, then review the suggestions in context. Recheck after substantial late edits. For live coverage, decide whether a short factual update needs the same pass as a long analysis.

Review suggestions, do not accept blindly

Names, quotations, dialect, specialist language and deliberately chosen editorial style can look unusual without being wrong. Check proposed changes against source material and your publication’s style. Never use a tool suggestion as a substitute for fact checking.

Make correction practice visible

Keep a clear route for readers and staff to flag errors. When a published story is materially corrected, follow your editorial correction policy and update related headlines, captions or front-page framing as necessary.
